In the coming years, some masterpieces in this segment are going to hit the roads, and we just can’t wait for that to happen!

It looks like the truck wars have finally started to heat up as some of the biggest automobile manufacturers are working on exciting and futuristic pickup trucks.

Pickup trucks are one of the most widely-found vehicles in the U.S. Why? Well, because a pickup truck is a highly versatile and powerful vehicle. From being used as an adventure vehicle to hauling trailers to moving heavy objects, a pickup truck is a one-stop solution. Considering the popularity of these vehicles, this segment offers automobile companies a lot of room to experiment with new technologies and systems. What might bring you to the edge of your seat is that electric and hybrid pickup trucks are no more ‘just an idea,’ but they’re an actual thing and are just around the corner.

It looks like 2020 and 2021 will be the beginning of a new era for pickup trucks. Ford, Volkswagen, General Motors, and Tesla are among the many automobile giants that are already working on electric and hybrid pickup truck models, and it is expected that these modern pickup trucks will be hitting the road sooner than later.

Let’s have a look at some of the future trucks that are worth waiting for in 2020, 2021, and beyond! From the F-150 electric pickup truck by Ford to the Cybertruck by Tesla, these are futuristic pickup trucks that you should start saving up for!

1. Ford F-150 Hybrid

The rumors about Ford working on a hybrid pickup truck have been circulating for quite a while now, but it looks like we finally have proof of this hybrid pickup truck by Ford. The company has been test-running its 2021 F-150 pickup truck, and from some of the latest spy photos, it seems like it is THE hybrid version of a pickup truck that Ford has been working on.

The Ford 2021 F-150 was heavily camouflaged but not enough to be hidden completely. According to reports, this prototype hybrid pickup truck is all set for production in the near future.

The Ford F-150 Hybrid pickup truck is said to be equipped with a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, which means that it will be able to provide 110-volts of power to power different tools at various sites for prolonged periods.

Moreover, its torquey electric motor will provide the truck with commendable hauling and towing power. We’re looking forward to seeing how this hybrid pickup truck performs on the road!

3. LMC Endurance

Originally named the Workhorse W-15, the Endurance by Lordstown Motors Corporation was all set for launch and production in 2018. However, due to some setbacks, its launch got delayed. The LMC Endurance is now expected to be launched in late-2020 or early 2021.

The LMC Endurance is a hybrid-electric pickup truck whose primary target isn’t individual customers, but rather, it targets work fleets. What gives this hybrid-electric pickup truck the WOW-factor is that it will have 4 separate electric motors, one for each wheel.

The battery pack will be super-powerful and will provide the hybrid-electric pickup truck with excellent endurance, with a target of 250 miles when fully charged. The pricing will start from $52,000, which means that it’s very much middle-of-the-road when it comes to pricing.

4. Tesla Cybertruck

Despite having a weird (some say futuristic) appearance, the Cybertruck by Tesla is a very compelling product for all the right reasons. The Cybertruck variant that Tesla claims to be the most capable will have a towing capacity of an incredible 14,000 pounds, a 500-mile battery range, and a 0 to 60 time of less than 3 seconds. All these figures are tremendous and have us chomping at the bit for its official release.

Along with what’s under the hood, the Cybertruck will also have an adjustable air suspension that will provide the pickup truck with a ground clearance of up to 16-inches.

However, the real catch of the Tesla Cybertruck is its dent-proof body, which has been made using 30X cold-rolled stainless steel. The price of the Tesla Cybertruck range will start at $39,000 and will go up to $69,900 for its 3-motor version. Production of the Cybertruck is expected to begin by late 2021.

5.     Bollinger B2

The Bollinger B2 is a futuristic electric pickup truck that flaunts a rather retro style. It is a massively-expensive monster of a truck, priced at $125,000! It is a modified pickup version of Bollinger’s B1 SUV, which is also in the launch plan for 2021.

The Bollinger B2 promises excellent performance with an incredible payload capacity of 5,000 pounds, a 668 lb-ft torque, and 4.5 seconds to reach 60mph. Not to forget the classic appearance that makes it look like it has come straight out of SEMA Show.

Other features of this handsome electric pickup truck include the hydropneumatic suspension that gives it as much as 20-inches of ground clearance, equipping the Bollinger B2 with outstanding Overlanding ability. We know you can’t wait but hold your horses until its launch, which is expected to be some time in the second half of 2020.

Now, all this talk of the upcoming launches of futuristic pickup trucks probably has you all pumped. Apart from being futuristic and modern, electric and hybrid pickup trucks are environment-friendly, less- dependent on fossil fuels, and have a higher resale value.  Only three months into 2020, we already have so much to look forward to. It looks like 2020, and by extension, 2021, are really going to mark the beginning of a new era for pickup trucks!
